An attorney for former US president Donald Trump, Jim Trusty, has stated that Trump's focus is on legal maneuvers aimed at getting his criminal case related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels dismissed before a trial jury is seated.
Trusty argued that there are issues to examine regarding whether New York state prosecutors waited too long to secure an indictment against Trump and if Trump intended to commit any crimes with the payments in question.
The payments were made during the 2016 White House race which Trump won. Trusty also questioned whether the Manhattan district attorney's office should be able to apply federal election law to a New York case. Trump has launched verbal attacks against the prosecutor and judge overseeing his case.
